What is Tooth Extraction?

A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from its socket in the jawbone. It is recommended when a tooth is too badly decayed, broken, infected or loose to be saved, or when it is causing crowding or other problems.

At Maa Dental Care, we always try to save your natural tooth first. When extraction is the best option, Dr. Prakhar Singh performs it gently under local anesthesia, and you go home with simple, clear aftercare instructions for smooth healing.

When Do You Need This Treatment?

A tooth broken or decayed beyond repair
Severe infection that cannot be treated with a root canal
A loose tooth due to advanced gum disease
Milk (baby) teeth that have not fallen out on time
Crowding before orthodontic treatment
A tooth causing repeated pain or swelling

Treatment Process at Maa Dental Care

1
Examination & X-Ray

The tooth and surrounding bone are examined, and an X-ray is taken if needed to see the shape and position of the roots.

2
Local Anesthesia

The area is numbed completely, so you feel pressure but no pain during the procedure.

3
Gentle Removal

The tooth is carefully loosened and removed, preserving the surrounding bone and gum.

4
Aftercare & Follow-Up

A gauze pack controls bleeding, and you receive aftercare instructions and medicines if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does tooth extraction hurt?
The area is fully numbed with local anesthesia, so you should feel only pressure, not pain. Some soreness after the anesthesia wears off is normal and is managed with prescribed medicines.
How long does healing take?
The gum usually heals within 1-2 weeks, while the bone underneath continues to heal over the following months. Most people return to normal activities the next day.
What should I avoid after an extraction?
For the first 24 hours avoid spitting, rinsing forcefully, using a straw, smoking and hot food. Eat soft, cool food and follow the aftercare instructions given at the clinic.
Should I replace the extracted tooth?
Replacing a missing tooth, for example with a bridge, stops the neighbouring teeth from shifting and keeps chewing comfortable. Dr. Prakhar Singh will discuss the options with you.
